Opening of Dawson’s Bar - Circa 1940
Established in 1908 by the Dawson Brothers as a Hardware store, and then a restaurant and then a bar/speakeasy, Dawson’s has been an iconic business in Dixon for over 115 years. Our building is listed as a Historic Landmark where the original gentlemen’s bar and restaurant operated until the late 1970’s.
Dawson’s has had many identities throughout the years, mostly known as a place for locals to gather and “do business,” whether it be a hardware store, a bar/saloon, or a restaurant.
Reconstruction -2017/2018
The Orr’s have preserved history while blending in the latest trends that offers a traditional family restaurant for all to enjoy. Patrons are met with a historical, trendy, and welcoming ambiance with a rustic vibe complete with great food, drinks, and entertainment.

In December of 2017, longtime Dixon residents, Jill and Greg Orr, purchased the business and updated the interior, changed the menus, and welcomed the local community to the “new” Dawson’s Bar and Grill.
